"Knowing the truth in all things has been our nemesis for a while now. I suppose it is no surprise that even here, we do not know for sure."

"But as best I can tell, this is real. The sounds, the feel, the smell, the way nature reacts tells me it is all real. How, I cannot tell, and I've been completely deceived before so let us continue on. I suspect things will become more clear or at least, we will come to the moment of decision."

The forest was alive with sounds and smells, glorious sensations that pulsed with an energy long lost from the empire. Llewayas could feel her body refresh under the beautiful sky, she could sense her energy levels increasing as she absorbed the life from the forest.

She felt more alive than she had ever felt before.

The path they were on led into the forest and as they walked the trees almost moved out of the way to keep the route clear.

Faeril could feel the pull of warpstone, it was literally tugging her onwards. She could feel it whispering in her mind and she felt tendrils of power pulling at her arms and legs.

Arik, although not as comfortable in the wild as he was in cities, was still an accomplished tracker. As they walked he quickly became aware of movement off to their right. Whatever , whoever was out there, was trying hard not to be heard.

Faeril

Without conscious volition, Faeril found herself walking toward the powerful tug of the warpstone's emanations.

It was simultaneously enormously attractive and worrisome to her. She both had to find it and hoped somehow she never would.

Arik

The next time Llew glances his way he offers her a small hand sign to keep moving on. As they pass some large trees that shield him from the view of those stalking them, he stops suddenly, blocked from view by the trees and lets Llew and Faeril continue on.

Grasping some climbing claws in his hands he clambers quickly, and silently up the tree to a place where he can get an overhead view and he looks for movement.

Llewayas

"This is incredible." she said almost breathless, feeling the vitality in the area.

Seeing Arik's signal, she immediately changed her way of looking at the place as something interesting to something threatening. She trusted Arik and when he separated from them, she kept moving without hesitation.

She was ready to grab her bow if needed, her eyes scanning everything around them as they proceeded.

Arik managed to get to a comfortable perch in the tree that provided him a clear view of three skaven. They were moving through the trees in the same direction as Arik and the team but he could see immediately that they were unaware of their presence. The other noticeable thing that Arik could see was these were not skaven he as used to seeing. They looked like younglings, they had no weapons and were dressed in colourful, child like clothes. They were also well groomed.

Arik

Silently dropping down out of the tree, once the three have passed by, he follows them for a bit to make sure they are alone, then glides back to his companions to tell them what he saw.

She was glad to see Arik rejoin them. She continued walking as she talked.

"Like well-groomed children?"

"More God games with our minds? Or they're trying to show us that the Skaven aren't all like we know them, or at least they didn't used to be this way."

"Why do I get the feeling we'll see more things like that? More ways to make this all the harder." she said sighing.

Faeril

"Or are the God trying to tell us what the Skaven once were like?"

Faeril frowned and made a rather apologetic gesture to Llewayas.

"That's just saying what you said in a different order. Sorry... I need to listen more carefully."
